I'm Blocked

Literally and figuratively. We had our HSG this cycle and my left tube is blocked. That explains why I haven't been able to get pregnant - especialy with three follices on the first cycle. They were all on the blocked side..Wonderful.

The question is how did it get blocked? It wasn't blocked before. I've been pregnant three times...none of them succesfully but at least I was able to get there.

Another failed cycle this month and the recommendation is IVF. I just don't know if I am ready for that. What to do, what to do? Taking some time off to figure it out. I don't think there's any good answer here.

This is a tough one - do they suspect that scar tissue from one of the losses led to the blockage? Would it be worth having a hysteroscopy, as well, to make sure the uterus is clear? I can't imagine how frustrating that must have been to hear. It's tough to go through any failed cycle, but then to be told there was a very obvious impediment...grrrrr. IVF is a big step but once you do it, it feels less extreme (if that makes sense). I promise.

(And thank you so much for your comment on my blog. I'm always sad when I hear of someone else in this very unhappy boat. I will be thinking very good thoughts for you as you try to figure things out).

They are not sure where the blockage came from - It's all conjecture. It seems to make sense that the Dr said it could be from the ectopic that was on that side but even she was just guessing. It's been frustrating since in the last three IUI that's where all the follicles were. She said I could have a laparoscopic surgery to look and see if they could unblock it but in her opinion that would be a waste of time at my age. :) I scheduled my IVF consult and am coming more to terms with that first small step. Hopefully the information will make me more determined to go forward than less. :) Thank you for commenting. It's nice to have this forum to feel a little less alone in this even though I wish no one had to be here in the first place.
